Frequently asked questions

Everything parents want to know before getting started.

What exactly is Haushelden?

Haushelden is an app for everyday family life. You plan tasks and routines in one place, set rewards, and children collect effort points for the tasks they complete. Those points go into building your family house together – every contribution visibly makes something bigger grow.

What age is Haushelden suitable for?

Haushelden is designed for children aged roughly 6 to 16. Younger children start with simple, recurring tasks; for older children and teenagers there is Haushelden Next, a dedicated area with privileges, a Crown Score and a living space of their own.

Does my child need their own phone?

No, that isn’t necessary. You have two options:

One device for everyone. You can share a single phone or tablet and simply pass it on. Each child switches to their own profile and sees only their own tasks. Then the device moves on to the next one.

A device of their own. If your child already has one, that’s of course the most convenient. No SIM card is needed – Wi-Fi is perfectly enough, and an old family phone does the job just as well as a tablet.

Either works. Where a child does use their own device, they experience it not as something purely for consuming but as something they use responsibly for what counts in real life. That builds digital literacy along the way.

Do I have to download anything from an app store?

No. Haushelden is a Progressive Web App and runs straight in your browser – on phone, tablet and desktop. Using “Add to Home Screen” you still get an app icon, offline use and automatic updates, without ever opening an app store.

How does the free trial work?

You get to try Haushelden free and in full for 30 days. No payment details are required – you don’t enter a credit card or bank account.

After 30 days the trial simply ends. No subscription starts automatically: you actively decide whether you want to continue with a paid plan. If you do nothing, nothing happens.

Is there a permanently free version?

No. After the 30-day trial, Haushelden is a paid app. In return there is no advertising, no in-app purchases and no selling on of data – the app is funded solely by what families pay for it.

How many family members does one plan cover?

Everyone. One plan covers your entire family – both parents and any number of children, with no extra charge per person.

Is Haushelden just for the children – or for us as parents too?

For you too. Tasks aren’t only assigned to children: who has taken on what is visible to everyone – between the parents as well. That is exactly where the quiet argument about who actually keeps track of things usually starts.

And you can agree rewards between yourselves as well. They don’t have to cost anything: a kiss, an evening with no discussion about to-dos, an hour to yourself. It sounds small, but it means you notice each other as a couple again – and that is often the first thing to go in everyday family life.

How we make responsibility visible, and the role parents play in that, is set out in the concept.

What is the difference between “Haushelden Family” and “Haushelden Next”?

Haushelden Family (€39.99 / year) includes all the core features: tasks, routines, rewards, building the house together and progress reports.

Haushelden Next (€54.99 / year) includes all of that plus the growth programme for teenagers – privileges and a Crown Score, a mentoring and support system, and an age-appropriate app experience. More about it on the teens page.

Don’t rewards teach my child to do everything only in return for something?

That’s the question we get asked most. In Haushelden, rewards are deliberately a learning aid at the beginning and not a permanent state: they help children build a habit in the first place, and step back once that habit holds.

Our educational reasoning for this is set out in detail in our concept.

What happens when tasks get left undone?

Then the Night Monsters start troubling the house – visibly, but without punishment and without any finger-wagging. It’s a playful way for children to understand why keeping at it matters.

We deliberately avoid streak pressure: one missed day doesn’t wipe out all your progress. If you skip a day, you simply carry on afterwards.

How do we avoid arguments about what was and wasn’t done?

Completed tasks can be confirmed with photo proof and voice recognition. That makes what was actually done traceable – which takes the ground out from under arguments and keeps things fair between siblings.

Is Haushelden ad-free and GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Haushelden is completely free of advertising, there are no ad networks and no tracking of children. Processing is carried out in accordance with the GDPR.
